When you are looking for a new vacuum, one of the biggest decision you will be required to make is whether you want a bagged or bagless model.  While there are many conflicting reports and recommendations available, please allow us the opportunity to show you what you can expect from each type of vacuum.  Many so-called benefits of a vacuum actually compromise the integrity of the vacuum.

  BAGGED VACUUMS BAGLESS VACUUMS

REASONS

Durability Better Compromised

Bagless vacuums typically rely on large filters to trap what they pick up.  Once these filters become full, they create pressure on the motor, and can cause large repair bills.

Filtration Better Compromised

The plastic dirt cups that replace paper bags do not seal very well.  This means that more of the dust is recirculated back into the air in your home if you don't have a paper bag.

Cost to Operate Less expensive More expensive

Paper bags, even for the most expensive models, are far less than expensive HEPA filters.  Most bagless models use between two and four filters, and some of these filters can cost upwards of $25.

Ease of Use Better Compromised

While paper bags have a reputation of being difficult to deal with, they are far easier to use than bagless dirt cups.  Also, when you empty your dirt cup, you can get a mouthful of what you picked up out of your carpet earlier.  Not very fun.

Repairs Better Compromised

All vacuums require maintenance.  However, bagless vacuums need more due to the above mentioned problems with durability and filtration.  Also, each time you need service, chances are that you will need new filters, and that adds money to your bill.

As you can see, we highly recommend vacuums with a bag.  While we do sell some bagless vacuums, in nearly all circumstances, a bagged vacuum will be recommended over a bagless model.  When we sell you a vacuum, we want you to be very happy with your purchase.  To that end, we feel you will be much happier with your purchase if it is a bagged vacuum.

Obviously, all vacuum models are different, and therefore, each model should be compared individually.  However, on the whole, we can safely say that you will be much happier with your new vacuum if you choose a vacuum with a bag.
